OTTAWA, Ont., April 27th, 2001: The Members of the Supreme Court of Canada will be holding their annual retreat in Vancouver, British Columbia on May 4th and 5th. Each year, members of the Court set aside some time to discuss matters relating to the administration of the Supreme Court of Canada. In conjunction with their own meeting, the judges will also meet with the Chief Justice of British Columbia, the Honourable Allan McEachern, and other members of the British Columbia judiciary.
Chief Justice Beverley McLachlin stated “The Court has found that its informal discussions in recent years with judges at other levels of the Canadian legal system have been very worthwhile. It provides an opportunity for all of us to advance our understanding and appreciation of our respective judicial roles.”

OTTAWA (Ont.), le 27 avril 2001: Les juges de la Cour suprême du Canada tiendront leur retraite annuelle à Vancouver (Colombie-Britannique), les 4 et 5 mai. Chaque année, les juges prennent le temps de discuter des questions concernant l’administration de la Cour suprême du Canada. Cette année, nos juges auront également l’occasion de rencontrer le Juge en chef de la Colombie‑Britannique, l’honorable Allan McEachern, et d’autres membres de la magistrature de cette province.
Le juge en chef Beverley McLachlin a affirmé: «La Cour considère très profitables les discussions informelles qu’elle a eues, ces dernières années, avec les juges d’autres niveaux du système judiciaire canadien. Ces discussions nous permettent de mieux comprendre nos rôles respectifs au sein de ce système.»
