PRESS RELEASE
There will be a ceremony to mark the retirement of the Right Honourable Antonio Lamer, P.C., as Chief Justice of Canada and as a member of the Supreme Court of Canada at 10:45 a.m., Friday, December 17, 1999 in the Main Courtroom of the Supreme Court of Canada. It is expected that there will be remarks by The Rt. Hon. Jean Chrétien, P.C., Prime Minister, the Honourable Claire L’Heureux-Dubé, Mr. Eugene Meehan, President of the Canadian Bar Association and Mr. Denis Jacques, President of the Quebec Bar. It is expected, as well, that Chief Justice Lamer will be speaking on this occasion.

La cérémonie de marquer la retraite du très honorable Antonio Lamer, c.p., comme juge en chef du Canada et comme juge de la Cour suprême du Canada aura lieu le vendredi 17 décembre 1999 à 10 h 45 dans la salle d'audience principale de la Cour suprême du Canada. Des allocutions devraient être prononcées par le très honorable Jean Chrétien, c.p., Premier ministre, l'honorable Claire L’Heureux-Dubé, M. Eugène Meehan, Président du Barreau canadien et Me Denis Jacques, Bâtonnier du Québec. Le juge en chef Antonio Lamer, c.p. devrait faire également une allocution à cette occasion.
